About the Author: Stephen McGowan

Stephen McGowan is a 20-year U.S. Army veteran whose career of service took him across the globe, from training fields at home to combat deployments in challenging environments overseas. His years in uniform shaped not only his leadership and resilience but also his deep commitment to faith as a source of strength in the military community.

After retiring from active duty, Stephen turned his focus to supporting others through writing. His book, Wherever Duty Calls: A Pocket Prayer Guide for Military Members, was born from personal experience and a desire to give fellow service members and their families a tool for encouragement in the moments that matter most.

Stephen’s work bridges the gap between the demands of military life and the sustaining power of faith. Whether it’s a young Soldier facing their first deployment, a spouse holding down the home front, or a veteran navigating life after service, his writing offers comfort, perspective, and hope.

When he’s not writing, Stephen enjoys spending time with his family, mentoring younger leaders, and continuing to serve in his community.
